chicken French onion: 7 Steps to Comforting Perfection

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Baguette slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions, salt, and pepper. Cook until onions are caramelized.
  3. Remove onions from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add chicken breasts and cook until browned on both sides.
  5. Add beef broth and thyme to the chicken. Simmer until chicken is cooked through.
  6. Top each chicken breast with caramelized onions and Gruyere cheese.
  7. Cover the pan and cook until cheese melts.
  8. Serve with baguette slices.
