Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 package pie crusts (2 crusts)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and flour.
  3. Place one pie crust in a pie dish and fill with apple mixture.
  4. Dot the filling with butter.
  5. Cover with the second pie crust and seal the edges.
  6. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes.
  8. Let cool before serving.
