- 6 cups sliced apples
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 package pie crusts (2 crusts)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Place one pie crust in a pie dish.
- Spoon the apple mixture into the crust.
- Dot with butter.
- Cover with the second pie crust and seal the edges.
- Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
- Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes until apples are soft and crust is golden brown.
Notes
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
- Let the pie cool before slicing.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream for a treat.
