Ingredients

- 2 cups dried navy beans
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 pound bacon, diced
Instructions
- Soak the beans in water overnight.
- Drain the beans and place them in a pot with fresh water.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer until tender, about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beans, brown sugar, ketchup, barbecue sauce, onion, mustard, salt, pepper, and bacon.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
- Bake for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
- Feel free to add other spices for extra flavor.
- These beans can be made a day ahead and reheated.
