Pulled Pork 4th of July Classic — Homemade for Happy Gatherings

A classic pulled pork recipe perfect for 4th of July celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Mix the spices in a bowl to create a dry rub.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  4. Place the pork in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
  5. Bake for 6 hours or until the meat is tender and shreds easily.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  7. Shred the pork using two forks.
  8. Mix the shredded pork with BBQ sauce and apple cider vinegar.
  9. Serve on buns or with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Let the pork rest before shredding for easier handling.
  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper for desired heat.
  • Can be made a day in advance and reheated.
